Temple Kol Ami Religious School

Our Sunday mornings for kids preK through 7th grade start with a rousing song session and a story from Rabbi Shribman. Students and teachers greet each other joyfully with smiles and high fives. Talented and caring teachers engage the entire school in weekly lessons that build from one week until the next.

Students learn about the Jewish holidays, Jewish values and Israel through fun, hands-on activities. They begin to understand Shabbat through participating in and leading parts of services throughout the year. Families and extended families are invited to attend and participate in Shabbat dinner and the service.

Community is the core of our school. Parents often stay and schmooze creating their own special bonds. Many participate in the opening song session to celebrate Jewish holidays with their children or other programs throughout the day.

Curriculum:

prek-1: Holidays and Jewish Objects

2-3: Bible stories, Midrash, and Mitzvot

Hebrew School

Our 4th-7th grade students come on Wednesday nights at 5:15pm to learn the Aleph-bet and a deeper understanding of Hebrew and the prayers in a worship service. Rabbi Shribman and Cantorial Soloist Janet Christensen both teach, play games and have T'filah every class. We also have a Shinshinit, a student from Israel helping us on Wednesdays.

B'nai Mitzvah

We are offer personalized instruction and individualized attention to every student. Every B'nai Mitzvah is unique we try to meet the needs of the student and the family. Our students learn to lead prayer with confidence, chant Torah, pursue a mitzvah project, and offer a teaching to the congregation on their Torah portion. Parents and children prepare together through a multi-year program Shevet Gam Yachad, sitting together. The Bar or Bat Mitzvah family must be current in all their financial commitments to the congregation. We always work with our families to ensure that finances are not a barrier.

Madrichim

After our students become B'nai Mitzvah they come back and are Madrichim in our classrooms, helping our teachers and students.
